There are two main surgical hair transplant techniques:
FUE (Follicular Unit Extraction) — individual hair follicles are extracted one by one from the donor area (usually the back of the scalp) and implanted into thinning areas. No linear scar, faster recovery, but takes longer to perform for large sessions.
FUT (Follicular Unit Transplantation / "strip method") — a strip of scalp is surgically removed from the donor area, then dissected into individual grafts. Leaves a linear scar (usually hidden by hair), but can move more grafts in a single session and may cost less.
Neither is universally "better" — the right choice depends on your hair loss pattern, donor hair density, scarring preference, and budget. A qualified hair transplant surgeon should assess your case in person before recommending one over the other.
